Announced April 20th in an official press release, the Asian Tour confirm that it has inked a five-year agreement with Resorts World Manila to title sponsor a new US$750,000 tournament later this year.
The Resorts World Manila Masters will be held at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club from November 14 – 17, 2013 where all four rounds will be beamed live on the Asian Tour’s global television platform that reaches over 200 countries and 650 million homes.
Resorts World Manila’s first sponsorship foray on the Asian Tour come at the heels of the highly successful and publicized inaugural Solaire Open, which was sponsored by avid-golfer and billionaire, Ricardo Razon’s newest venture, Solaire Resort & Casino.
According to the release, “Asia’s newest tournament is primed to attract the top stars from the Asian Tour along the likes of home heroes Angelo Que, Juvic Pagunsan and Frankie Minoza, all winners on the region’s premier Tour.”
Resorts World Manila is also supporting the development of junior golf and sports in the Philippines, which sounds very similar to what Razon has been doing with the Philippine Golf Tour.
Regardless, this is a great move that will further promote golf and increases awareness for the sport in the country.
Let the casino wars begin! (they should make that into a History Channel show)
