Guess winning does take care of everything…
After his public scandal, Tiger Woods has clawed his way back to not only the No.1 spot on the World Golf Rankings but also to the top spot on Forbes’ Richest Athlete’s List.
According to Forbes:
“Forbes estimates that Woods pulled in $78.1 million over the last year from prize money, endorsements, appearance fees and golf course design work. His resurgence on the links boosted his prize money over the last 12 months to $13.1 million, double his total from the prior year.”
Forbes reports that Nike still remains Woods’ biggest supporter, paying him more than $20 million annually. Nike was one of the lone supports who stuck with the golfer throughout his peaks and valleys and are said to have reached a new, even more lucrative, endorsement deal with Woods.
A very smart move from Nike who is now reaping the benefits of Tiger’s reclaimed fame and success on the course (has already won 4 times this season) with controversial ads like this one below:
Following behind Woods are:
2. Roger Federer ($71.5 million)
3. Kobe Bryant ($61.9 million)
4. LeBron James ($59.8)
5. Drew Brees ($51 million)
6. Aaron Rodgers ($49 million)
7. Phil Mickelson ($48.7 million)
8. David Beckham ($47.2 million)
9. Christiano Ronaldo ($44 million)
10. Lionel Messi ($41.3 million)
On a side note, I’m convinced that if Messi were a better looking chap, he’d for sure be within the top three on this list… as it stands though, no one wants to see him bending it like Beckham (or Ronaldo) in his knickers…
