Adam Scott Wins Barclays Classic

After winning his first every Major at Augusta earlier this year, Adam Scott notched another win this past weekend at the prestigious Barclays Classic.

Scott shoot a bogey-free final round at Liberty National in my hometown of New Jersey along with two birdies on the back nine for a 5-under par that put him in at the top of leaderboard at 11-under par overall for the win.

Scott’s two biggest threats came from Justin Rose and Tigers Woods.

On the 18th hole, Rose had a 25-foot birdie putt for the lead but ran it 5-feet by the cup. He would three-putted for his only bogey of the day to fall one stroke behind for a T-2nd place finish.

Woods battled an ailing back the entire round. It was so severe at one point that he hooked a fairway wood straight into the swamp on the 13th before collapsing to his knees in pain. He would bogey that hole along with the 15th before birding the 16th and 17th to pull within one stroke of Scott.

However, a long birdie putt by Woods from the back of the 18th green was not able to drop to force a playoff with Scott.

Scott finished at 11-under 273 to win the FedEx Cup playoffs opener and move to a career-best No. 2 in the world.

Questions always come back to Woods, who leads the FedEx Cup points rankings but may be too battered to compete in the final three tournaments of the season.
